If you are excited for the Dilliard's New Year's Sale, here are a few additional tips you might want to consider. But first, check out our old Blog Posts about it here:

A few things are different this year (at least at the Provo Store):
1-SHOES! These are absolutely the best deals on good shoes you will find. They've tried various things and the last few years they just set out all of the sale shoes on tables labeled with the sizes. It was a MAD HOUSE, but you also could see all the shoes in your size in one place and grab them. I guess they thought it was too crazy though, because this year they are doing it differently. When they open you have to grab the shoe you want from the display (and there are only two of each style so you may not see them initially) and get in line, as for the shoe(s) in your size, and then take them to a different line to buy them. You can only get 6 pairs at a time per person. SO--the best thing to do is to go TODAY, try on the shoes you like, take a picture of the tag or the box, and bring those pictures with you tomorrow (I'm going to print them all out on a paper to give the clerk).
Also, don't forget about kids' shoes. Particularly, they have boys Nike's marked down from $65 to $24 which means they will be $12 tomorrow. And they have a more limited selection of Men's shoes, but a lot of Merrill and Echo loafers on sale.
2-KID'S CLOTHES-this is the first year I haven't checked out the baby section (under 2), but usually they have the best sales. But there are some great deals on big boy clothes too. Particularly Lucky, Hurley, Under Armor, Nike. They also have Levi Strauss straight jeans marked from $36 to $17 which means they will be $8.50. Also lots of khakis (good for church) in sizes 2-8. Also, the winter jackets usually aren't included in the sale.
3-PURSES-They have A LOT of purses marked down. If you have a strong preference you might want to go check it out early. If you want a particular Coach or Fossil one they only have a few of each style so you will want to go there first.
4-Accessories-There are a lot of these on sale too so I would hit everything else first and then browse these. UNLESS you want to take advantage of the great sales on designer sunglasses. They sell out fast.
5-Home Stuff-They have great sales on home stuff. The biggest mistake people sometimes make is wasting their time on Christmas stuff. You will want to check, but usually they have been marked down 50% since Christmas and won't be discounted any further. BUT, they have AMAZING deals on bedding, luggage, and some appliances.
One final tip for Utah folks--according to my aunt, the Sandy store is closing soon and doesn't have much left so I would head somewhere else.
Happy Shopping!

Dillard's Sale--Another Successful Shopping Trip!
So, I know my mom (and maybe my grandma) are the only ones interested in this, but the Dillard's New Year's Day sale today was AWESOME! It was a lot busier than I remembered it being in years past, but luckily I had spent 4 hours there on Tuesday and 1 hour there yesterday deciding what I want and making a game plan, so it all went smoothly. Jessica and I got there about 9 AM (even though they open at 10, one year they opened an hour earlier than they said they would), and we were definitely not the first people there. The only thing I wanted but didn't get was some shoes for Marshall, but someone else grabbed them before I could get to them.
So, mom, here is what I got:
For Mason/Myles: 12 long-sleeve shirts/sweaters (regularly $20-$45 for between $3 and $6 each)
For McKay: 1 pair pjs (regularly $18 for $5), pants (regularly $12 for $3), Hurley shirt and hat set (regularly $22 for $7), superman track suit with cape (regularly $28 for $8)--he grabbed this when I got home and ran around the house with it.
For Max: Captain America stride rite shoes (regularly $35 for $10)
For Myles' room: Comforter (regularly $179 for $45), and 2 shams (regularly $39 for $9)
For kids: 4 superhero 3 piece pj sets with capes (regularly $18 for $5)
For house: big magnet board to go on wall by recliner in family room (regularly $99 for $24), small heart magnet board to go above desk instead of that white one that doesn't quite fit (regularly $40 for $12)
For me: really comfortable Algeria shoes (regularly $130 for $35), 6 shirts and sweaters (ranging from regularly $30-100 for $5-$25), 3 pairs of earrings (regularly $16 for $4), scarf (regularly $28 for $4), Fossil sunglasses with case (regularly $75 for $20), and best of all, 7 bras (that I normally buy for $50 all for $5-$10 each).
I haven't calculated my total savings yet, but I'm guessing it was close to last year with paying about 25% of the normal price. Not bad. And I saw at least 4 families there that heard about the sale and came because of my Facebook post about it yesterday!
